Flamenco, a Flea Market and Food in Seville....

The Andalusia region of Spain is known for Flamenco, and Seville may be the epicenter.  There are many stores selling Flamenco dresses, and we noticed several schools that teach the traditional dance.  We attended a fabulous Flamenco show at the Museo Baile de Flamenco.  Luckily we purchased tickets ahead of time, when we arrived for the show it was sold out....

The theater is very compact....

This was our view, sitting at the side of the stage....

The performers for the evening...

Each song tells a story and expresses certain emotions.  All of the performers were incredible....

As we danced our way back to our apartment, we passed this store.  Chris decided she wanted the red dress....

For something completely different, we found out that Seville has a Thursday (Jueves) Flea Market, and it was less than ten minutes from our apartment.  It was quite large, with a lot of energy and shouting, but we made no purchases....

We did enjoy hearing a man play Flamenco guitar....

Food options are plentiful in Seville, from the basic to the gourmet to the crazy.  Starting with the basic, we had churros twice at Doña Carmen.  A giant plate of churros, thick hot chocolate for dunking, and a coffee was about $5.00....

After a long stroll through the winding lanes of Barrio Santa Cruz, we ducked into Bar Patanchon for tapas and a drink.  We knew we were in the right place when we were seated next to a New York sign....

One of the tapas we had was Albondigas en Salsa....little meatballs with a tangy sauce over fries....

A stop at a cafe along the river found us ordering shrimp, garlic, and mushrooms in an earthen pot....

After all this Spanish food, we had a hankering for a burger.  We found a pub that made a pretty good one....

Our apartment was above Michelin recommended tapas restaurant Eslava, which had amazing food, great service, and was packed all day.  Two of their award-winning specialties are the "cigar" (thin pastry outside filled with cuttlefish and algae, sounds revolting but is delicious), and slow cooked egg over truffle cake and wine reduction sauce.  And for dessert... "ice cream" made from cheese... amazing....

And why would you drink water, when beer is only ten cents more...??

And of course we found those delicious "Gourmet" Lays potato chips....

As for the crazy, we happened upon this "Taste of America" supermarket, with all of your favorites....

We found a wide variety of dining options in Seville, all with excellent prices and service... highly recommended....
