Granada to Ronda...

Following a great stay in Granada, we drove the two-and-a-half hours to Ronda.  After a bit of (normal) confusion about parking, etc., we met Carlos, the very friendly and helpful owner of the apartment where we are staying for three nights.  The apartment is located on Calle Espinel, a pedestrian only street the heart of Ronda.  Calle Espinel is the main shopping and strolling street, especially in the evening when everyone is out for Paseo, the socializing time before dinner...

Our apartment is on the 2nd floor, and the bldg has an elevator!
The apartment...

Many cafes, restaurants, tapas bars on the street...

Right across from our apartment is Viandas, the store that claims to sell "The World's Best Bocadillo", and who are we to argue?  We've had two of them so far.  They are cheap and delicious, and there's almost always a line...

Bocadillo Iberico con queso, por favor...

Our search for the best jamón iberico led us to....what else but...La Casa Del Jamón.  It's about four blocks away.  A great store, with a little museum dedicated to all things ham....

Always sliced by hand....

Walking back from the "House of Ham", we stopped in a market and look what we found...

Who's happy now?  Well, not the person who has to carry it around for the next week...
We spotted this truck, pretty obvious what's inside....

We had dinner at Toro Tapas, just a few steps from our apartment.  We couldn't believe how good and inexpensive it was.  Tapas cost 2-3 euros each...wine, beer, or sherry are 2 euros a glass....

Our wine and sherry...the small glass has Gazpacho, one of our delicious tapas....

Just a couple blocks from our apartment are the two main sights in Ronda....the Puente Nuevo (New Bridge, built in the 18th century), and the Plaza de Toros (Bull Ring, the oldest in Spain).  The Puente Nuevo spans a deep gorge separating the Old Town and New Town.  Will explore these sights later....

Mañana is another day......
