Ronda to Jerez...Through the Mountains...Wow!

It was difficult to leave Ronda, we really enjoyed it, but the road goes on forever.  And the road to Jerez took us through the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, in other words, through the mountains.   And home to the "white villages" of Andalusia.  It was a spectacular drive, twisty, turny roads, but in perfect condition, every turn yielding an even more amazing sight....

On the way we drove through a forest of cork trees.  Many of them had been harvested recently....

We stopped for a coffee and hot chocolate at Cafe Rumores in the picture-perfect white village of Grazalema....

The main plaza in Grazalema....

Other views in Grazalema....

In one cafe, you could buy old Pedro Ximenez from the barrel....

There was a great old fountain in the town square....

Add your own caption....

A short distance west of Grazalema we came across a Natural Park and picnic area.  These two cows were lazing and grazing....

We decided to stop for lunch in the small village of El Bosque (The Forest), at a place called Lo De Pepe, as we seem to have a Pepe thing going on....

Scrambled eggs with chorizo and fries....

A kitty took interest in us....

A view of the fountain in the town center....

Walking back to the car, we saw this stork in a nest....

Speaking of the car, the town was packed, and there was no parking.  This was the only spot we could find.  Parking for three-wheelers only....

We changed the angle of attack to something more reasonable....

On to Jerez and our apartment in part of the old Bodegas Fundador winery complex.  Although Fundador is still very much in business, one of their old buildings has been made into apartments....

The apartment....
Our private indoor parking...!

Next mission...explore Jerez and its sherry culture...cheers!
